Home Start Dundee has been supporting
families across Dundee since 1985.
Home-Start Dundee was set up in 1985 and has 3 paid staff
members, a Senior Co-ordinator, Co-ordinator/Development
Worker and an Administrative Assistant. Home-Start Dundee
is managed by a voluntary Board of Trustees made up of
local people who are interested in the aims of Home-Start,
together with representatives from Social Work, Health
Visiting, Early Years and Childcare Partnership.
Home-Start Dundee is one of a large network of Home-Start
schemes. The first Home-Start scheme was launched in 1973,
and there are now currently over 330 schemes throughout
the UK and with British Forces in Germany and Cyprus.
As part of a national organisation we adhere to agreed
national quality standards, however, Home-Start Dundee
is firmly rooted in the local community and responds to
local needs.
Home-Start Dundee volunteers support families in a sensitive
and flexible way.
Volunteers visit a family usually once a week for about
2 hours, the approach of the volunteer varies according
to the needs of the family they visit.
