| Home-Start Dundee runs a Preparation
Course which is usually one session per week over a period
of eight weeks, each session lasts for 3 hours.
This course is informal and fun and prepares volunteers
for their role visiting families.
The topics covered include:
- An Introduction to Home-Start and why it is needed
- The needs of families
- What causes stress?
- Children’s Behaviour Issues
- Child Development
- Communication Skills
- Health and Safety
- The Role of the Social Worker
- Values and Attitudes
- Confidentiality
- Ethics of Home-Visiting
- Commitment
At the end of the course Volunteers receive a Certificate
and have the opportunity to meet with existing volunteers.
